The Meering Pony Stud was established in Nottinghamshire in 1975 with the purchase of Shilstone Rocks Windbuoy, a part bred dartmoor colt foal from the Shilstone Rocks Stud in Devon.  He was by the small TB stallion Hooky Boy out of a dartmoor mare, Windfall of Shilstone Rocks.  We bought him unseen and he grew to be almost 15h.h.  He was broken in at five and sold to a good competitive home where he had a most successful career in the show ring, jumpiing, hunting and later long distance riding.  He was lovely and a great pleasure to own and directly responsible for starting a 30 year association and love of part and pure bred Dartmoors.

I bred part bred ponies crossing and re-crossing with small TBs and the occasional show pony.  Life’s circumstances led to a ten year break in keeping ponies so when I delightedly resumed in 2001, I decided to breed only pure bred Dartmoor ponies.  I wanted to make a contribution, however small, to the continuance of this beautiful breed of native pony.

These are some of the ponies we have owned or bred who have gone on to new homes.
